Reverend Rollo Goodlove (voiced by Cee-Lo Green) is an African-American left-wing activist whose activism seems more to get him media exposure than to show his opinion on the issue. His mannerisms are over-the-top and he has a strong liking to wigs, changing them every other scene. He is also a "preacher", but it is unknown if he is the pastor of the church or not.

History

He originally appeared in "The S-Word", as a supporter of the Freemans after Mr. Petto used a "racial slur" on Riley. He then turned it into a political debate between himself and Ann Coulter (which was carefully orchestrated) giving him more media exposure. His protest was overshadowed (forcefully with rifles) by Betty von Heusen and other pro-gun activists. Granddad was certain he would have received lots of money for the incident.

He also helped Huey in "The Hunger Strike" in an attempt to pull BET off the air, but Rollo was offered a TV sitcom to be aired on BET, which led to him no longer aiding Huey's strike.

He returns in the Season 4 episode "The New Black", where he helps the Freemans win the fight against the gay rights movement by lying that Riley is a special needs child because he uses "gay" as a repeating phrase. Cee-Lo Green did not return to voice Rollo in this episode.

Trivia

  • His character might be modeled after Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, two controversial civil rights activists known for their divisive rhetoric and publicity campaigns.
  • Every time he appears on the show, uptempo gospel music plays in the background.
